About ATOCP

All you need to know about the ATOCP

The Association of Trauma and Orthopaedic Chartered Physiotherapists' interest lies in orthopaedics - inpatients and outpatients, elective and trauma.

We offer our members a valuable service, providing them with our magazine and guidelines for practise, running events such as study days, lectures and our annual conference.

Our network, services and resources

Regional network

There are regional groups across the UK: We currently have an active South and Scotland branch providing regular educational and networking events. Each has a committee and a representative who actively participates in the ATOCP Executive Committee. This ensures that close links are maintained across the group.

For further information regarding local activities and the regional committee, please contact:

North West - Julie Blackburn Julie.blackburn@whh.nhs.uk

South – Steve Sampson stephen.sampson@poole.nhs.uk

Scotland - Mairi Forsyth Mairi.Forsyth@nhslothian.scot.nhs.uk

We are in the process of setting up more regional ATOCP branches and would love to hear from you if you would be interested in helping with this.

Peer support/mentorship

Members have access to local and regional committee members for advice and support. The CSP holds an up-to-date list of names and addresses of the ATOCP Executive Committee.

Promoting research

ATOCP promotes research and the sharing of information through its regional and national networks. Examples of evidence-based guidelines are published in the ATOCP magazine eg Guidelines for the management of osteo-arthritis of the knee and total knee replacements.

Research/education awards

£2,000 sponsorship is available each year to assist funding of education and research. Please see sponsorship contact details in the AOCP magazine.

Published evidence-based material

The Executive Committee have recently edited the Fracture chapter for the 14th Edition of Tidy’s Physiotherapy
